The gypsy woman warned Dana of the Curse of the Jaywalkers. Dana obediently tried to ward off the curse as long as she could, knitting the socks all day and then unraveling them at night. But all Dana's efforts were foiled--the curse was even more powerful than she had suspected. Whether it was the constricting nature of the socks, the shock of having finished them, the sugar rush of one too many pieces of baklava, or the dreaded curse itself that struck that Sunday, we'll probably never know . . .

And she'll be wearing them all summer to cover her fuzzy ankles so all we see are shiny shaven shins......
